Biodegradable & Compostable​
Polylactic Acid (PLA) is an innovative biodegradable material derived from renewable plant resources such as sugarcane, cassava, and corn. The sugars extracted from these plants undergo biological fermentation to produce lactic acid, which is then polymerised into PLA. PLA is known for its excellent biocompatibility and biodegradability. Initially, it was applied in the biomedical and medical industries, including in heart and vascular stents, bone pins, and dissolvable surgical sutures.
